GTA 6 Release Date, Price and Everything Confirmed So Far (Plus Our Predictions)

Updated 12 October 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI is now just weeks away, and the internet is full of claims about its release date, price, a PC version and leaked footage. Some of it is accurate. A lot of it is not.
This guide sorts what Rockstar has actually confirmed from what is still rumour, then finishes with our own predictions for launch week and beyond, clearly labelled as opinion.
GTA 6 Release Date: 19 November 2026
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on Thursday, 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Getting here took two delays. Rockstar originally targeted a 2025 window, then set a date of 26 May 2026, before moving the game again to 19 November 2026. As of this update, no further delay has been announced, and with pre-orders open and physical boxes scheduled to ship, another slip this late would be extremely unusual.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
Not at launch. Rockstar has only confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no official PC version or PC release date yet. Any site claiming a confirmed PC date is guessing — see our predictions below for when we think it will actually arrive.
GTA 6 Price and Editions
Rockstar revealed pricing ahead of pre-orders, which opened on 25 June 2026 across the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and retail partners (TechRadar, Engadget).
| Edition | US | UK | Europe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $79.99 | £69.99 | €79.99 |
| Ultimate (extra vehicles, weapons, outfits and more) | $99.99 | £89.99 | €99.99 |
Regional pricing per TheSixthAxis. There is no Collector’s Edition at launch. Reports also list a Vintage Vice City Pack bonus for pre-orders and early purchases.
The box has no disc
One detail caught many fans off guard: physical editions ship with a download code instead of a game disc. Boxes are reported to ship from 12 November so players can pre-load before launch. The decision drew criticism shortly before Sony announced it will stop manufacturing discs for new PlayStation games from January 2028 (TechCrunch) — more on that in our PS6 guide.
What We Know About the Game
From Rockstar’s trailers and official material:
- Setting: the state of Leonida, a modern take on Florida, centred on a reimagined Vice City.
- Protagonists: Lucia and Jason, a criminal duo — Lucia is the first playable female lead since the series moved to 3D.
- Radio and media: Rockstar has been previewing in-game radio stations and new screenshots on its official site in the run-up to launch.
Treat anything beyond Rockstar’s own trailers, screenshots and website with caution until release.
About the Leaked Footage
Unofficial footage claimed to show GTA 6 gameplay and cutscenes has circulated online in recent weeks. Rockstar has not confirmed it, it may contain story spoilers, and we won’t link to it. Rockstar has spoken before about how damaging leaks are for the people who build its games — and the full experience is close enough now that it is worth waiting for.
How to Get Ready for Launch Day
A few practical steps will make 19 November much smoother:
- Pre-order digitally or buy the box early, then pre-load. Every copy needs a download, including boxed editions. Pre-loading in the week before launch means you can play the moment it unlocks instead of waiting on overloaded servers.
- Free up storage now. Rockstar hasn’t published a final install size, but open-world games of this scale are very large. Clearing space — or adding an expansion drive — before launch week avoids last-minute stress.
- Check your internet plan. If you have a data cap or a slow connection, start the download early and avoid launch-night peaks.
- Decide Standard vs Ultimate on content, not hype. The Ultimate Edition adds in-game items, not a different game. If you mainly care about the story, the Standard Edition gives you the full experience.
- Avoid spoilers. Leaked footage and early streams will circulate. Muting keywords on social media for the first week is the easiest protection.
- Be wary of “early access” offers. Sites offering GTA 6 downloads before launch, cheap keys from unknown sellers or “PC versions” are scams or malware. Buy only from official stores and trusted retailers.
Our Predictions
These are HexaPixora’s predictions, not confirmed information.
- It launches on 19 November. With pre-orders live and boxes shipping a week early, we expect no further delay.
- Record-breaking launch. We expect GTA 6 to become the fastest-selling entertainment launch to date, measured in revenue rather than units, helped by the $80 price and the popularity of the Ultimate Edition.
- Busy servers and huge downloads on day one. With every copy downloaded — even boxed ones — expect store and network strain at launch. Pre-loading from 12 November is the smart move.
- A PC version in 2027 or early 2028. Rockstar’s last two big releases reached PC roughly 13–19 months after console. We expect GTA 6 on PC to follow a similar pattern, likely announced in 2027.
- $80 becomes the new ceiling for blockbusters. If GTA 6 sells as expected at $79.99, other publishers will feel comfortable pricing their biggest games the same way.
- The online mode will be the long game. As with GTA V, we expect the online component to keep growing for years and to drive more revenue over time than the story campaign.
We will update this page as Rockstar shares more — and we’ll review these predictions after launch.
Final Thoughts
GTA 6 arrives on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at $79.99 for the Standard Edition, with no disc in the box and no PC version yet. Everything else circulating online should be treated as rumour until Rockstar says otherwise.
